These days, people tend to eat more junk food instead of home-made healthy meals. The common symptoms of high cholesterol or obesity, high blood pressure and kidney diseases. The following are the various home remedies to lower cholesterol levels:

  • Amla: Amla is rich in compounds that naturally reduce the concentration of serum. According to some study, amla is effective to reduce the bad cholesterol levels due to its antihyperlipidemic and hypolipidemic effects. Boil amla in water and drink the water on an empty stomach to reduce cholesterol. Repeat the process daily. 
  • Nuts: Dry fruits like nuts reduce the high cholesterol levels and prevents the heart ailments. Eat dry fruits such as almonds, walnuts, peanuts and pistachios to reduce cholesterol. They contain abundant fiber and vitamin C that helps to keep the cholesterol levels normal.
  • Fish oil: Fish are rich in nutrients such as omega 3 fatty acids, which reduce the amount of fat in the blood. Fish like salmon, sardine and tuna consists of essential nutrients.   • Oats: People prefer oats in breakfast to lose weight. It helps to lower the cholesterol. It contains soluble fiber that reduces bad cholesterol and increases the good cholesterol.   • Coconut oil: Coconut oil contains abundant lauric acid that increases the good cholesterol and lowers the bad cholesterol. Use a spoon of coconut oil in the meals to stay fit.   • Apple vinegar: It helps in reducing the risk of numerous diseases. It contains antioxidants that help reduce high cholesterol levels. Drink a teaspoon full of vinegar mixed in a glass of water. Repeat the process for a month. People can try fruit juices if they do not like the taste of apple vinegar.  
  • Coriander seeds: The coriander seeds are useful to reduce blood sugar levels and cholesterol levels. Take two spoons of coriander seeds and mix it in a cup of water. Sieve the mixture after boiling it. Consume the same twice a day. Add milk, sugar or cardamom to improve the taste.  
  • Onion: Onion is rich in medicinal properties that reduce the high levels of cholesterol. It is a good home remedy to lower cholesterol levels. It also reduces the risk of heart diseases. Prepare a mixture of onion and honey and consume the same day. Add black pepper, buttermilk or garlic to enhance the taste.
