Women who undergo C-section will try to lose stomach fat within a few weeks. Excess fluid should work through your system within a few weeks. Your uterus will start shrinking and the stomach will start to shrink initially. Apart from this, exercising also reduces the stomach. During pregnancy, the belly grows to the full size in 40 weeks. After childbirth, whether cesarean or vaginal, it can take the uterus 6 to 8 weeks to shrink back to its normal size.  

Exercises to Reduce Belly Fat after Cesarean Delivery.

The doctor does not allow to exercise to reduce the tummy immediately after cesarean delivery. According to the doctor, only bed rest is advised for 6 weeks after cesarean delivery, the new mother is advised not to exercise until 8 weeks or more. There are many types of exercises to reduce abdominal fat after C-section. Exercise strengthens the abdominal muscles. It helps in reducing the fat stored in the abdomen area. Therefore, light exercises can be done after cesarean delivery. Let us explain in detail. 

  • Planks can be done after C-section – This exercise is beneficial in controlling your body weight. In this exercise, hold your body in a pushup position while bearing all your weight down on the forearms, elbows, and toes. Do this daily for at least 30 seconds, this is a very good exercise that reduces abdominal fat. This exercise does not put pressure on the cesarean wound. 
  • Pelvic Tilts Exercise – Pelvic tilts exercise is good for reducing abdominal fat after cesarean delivery. To perform this exercise, lie down on the floor with your knees bent. Contract your abdominal muscles and tilt your hips forwards. Do this exercise for 10 seconds daily. This makes it easier to lose fat. 
  • Bridges Exercise – It is a good exercise to strengthen muscles and hips after cesarean delivery. To perform this exercise, lie down on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor, hip-width apart. Spread your hands with palms facing downwards. Slowly lift your hips off the floor. Do this exercise 4 to 5 times. This exercise will reduce your tummy fat. 
  • Kegels Exercise – This exercise is beneficial in strengthening pelvic floor muscles. If the baby is born through C-section, then this exercise may be helpful to reduce your stomach. To perform this exercise, tighten the pelvic floor muscles for five seconds and then release. Take care not to hold your breath. Repeat this process 4 to 5 times with some rest in between each. 
  • Forward Bends – Forward bends are considered good exercise to reduce stomach after cesarean delivery. It strengthens the lower back muscles and reduces belly fat. To do this exercise, stand up straight and slowly bend downwards with your arm at your side till your head is in level with your waist. After this, straighten the body. Doing 4 to 5 times will reduce stomach fat. 

Tips to Reduce Belly Fat after Cesarean Delivery  

  • Drink plenty of water after cesarean delivery because this will help to burn excess fat in the body. Therefore, make a habit of drinking plenty of water. 
  • Breastfeed your baby for at least 6 months after cesarean delivery. This helps in reducing belly fat. 
  • After cesarean delivery, the woman needs to get plenty of sleep. This helps in reducing abdominal fat and improving health. The mother should get 7 hours of sleep. 
  • If a woman has delivered a baby through c-section, then she requires a healthy and nutritious diet to recover from the surgery. All new mothers need a lot of energy. Make sure that the diet is rich in carbohydrates. Avoid eating sweets that have high amounts of fat. Eat more green vegetables and fruits.
