Cause of Yeast infection: A research shows that most of the women have suffered from yeast infection in the vagina. This occurs when the number of Yeast is high in the vagina. It leads to a burning sensation and itching in the vagina. The following symptoms can be observed:

  • Thick white fluid discharge
  • Itching and swelling in the vagina

Cause of Bacterial Vaginosis: This bacterial infection is common among women in the age group of 15 to 40 years of age. It results in an infection in the vagina that causes vaginal irritation. It leads to the following problems:  

  • Itching on the outer surface of the vagina
  • Thin white discharge
  • Fish like smell after intercourse

Treatment: Bacterial vaginosis can get cured by itself, without the requirement of any treatment. The doctor recommends antibiotic supplements in most of the cases.

Burning sensation in the vagina after contact: Products that come into contact with the vagina such as condoms, sanitary pads, creams, sprays, tampons etc. often cause a burning sensation in the vagina. This increases genital problems.  

Treatment: The easiest way to avoid this problem is to prevent contact with the vagina. This automatically stops this problem. Avoid using a particular product if it causes irritation. For example, if the use of a condom causes vaginal irritation, immediately stop its usage and consult a doctor for the same. Some people have this problem due to their sensitive skin. Irritation due to Urinary Tract Infection: Most of the urinary tract infections are caused by bacterial infections in the urinary bladder. This leads to a burning sensation and pain while urinating. The following symptoms can also be observed: 

  • Strong odor of the urine
  • Pain while urinating
  • Fever and cold

What are the home remedies to treat Vaginal Irritation? 

Numerous factors cause vaginal irritation. In some cases, treatment is not required. But medical treatment is necessary if the problem becomes severe. Visit a doctor if the women have any hesitation or confusion. Home remedies like using an ice pack on the affected area reduces irritation. Some of the causes of vaginal irritation are BV and STDs. It leads to serious problems if left untreated. STDs are extremely harmful for pregnant women as it may have adverse effects on the mother and the child. Chlamydia, genital herpes and trichomoniasis are associated with preterm labor. BV, Chlamydia, gonorrhea and trichomoniasis are STDs that spread by sexual contact with an infected person.
