Skin cancer is abnormal growth of cells in the skin. It affects the areas that are exposed to sunlight, and could affect other places too. There are different types of skin cancer and there are different treatments like surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, chemical peel treatment, etc.

Risk factors are- fair skin people, moles on skin, excess sun exposures, sunburn history, weak immune systems, radiation exposures, precancerous skin lesions, chemical exposures to coal, tar, arsenic, etc.
Skin cancer usually presents as a growth or lump on the skin. The specific signs of these growths depend upon the type of cancer present. Symptoms pertaining to the type of cancer are listed below:-
Basal cell carcinoma
Squamous cell carcinoma
Melanoma
A number of surgical techniques can be used depending upon the type of cancer and its extent.
Regular skin examinations by the patient themselves and the doctor at regular intervals would be necessary. A few tests may also be recommended by the doctor to make sure the cancer does not regrow.
