Liver cancer , also called hepatic cancer, occurs when liver cells start growing abnormally and destroy the normal cells. Thus , liver stops performing the normal functions. Since, the blood from differnt parts of the body has to pass through liver, the cancer cells can easily affect the liver ( secondary liver cancer ). Primary liver cancer ( cancer begins in the liver ) is rare and occurs in conditions like hepatitis, fatty liver disease, etc.
