Liver Cancer Treatment

Liver cancer , also called hepatic cancer, occurs when liver cells start growing abnormally and destroy the normal cells. Thus , liver stops performing the normal functions. Since, the blood from differnt parts of the body has to pass through liver, the cancer cells can easily affect the liver ( secondary liver cancer ). Primary liver cancer ( cancer begins in the liver ) is rare and occurs in conditions like hepatitis, fatty liver disease, etc.

It is found that liver cancer more commonly occurs in males above the age of 60 years. Primary cancer of the liver is rare. It mostly occurs due to the hepatic viral conditions lke hepatitis, etc. The secondary liver cancer occurs due to spread from other parts of the body to liver, via bloodstream.
