Robotic surgery, or robot-assisted surgery, is an approach to perform several simple as well as complex procedures with more precision and control as compared to endoscopic procedures or open surgery. Robotic Surgery is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that can be done through small incisions and can be controlled by the surgeon. This surgery provides great results and low risks as it removes the possibility of any sort of human error.
Similar to Laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery involves treatment through small cuts. It involves high precision due to the surgery being carried out by a robot and hence eliminates the possibility human error. The arm of the robot is controlled by the surgeon. This allows for the surgeon to easily observe the area that has to be treated and does not require a laparoscope. This procedure may be lengthy and costly, but is extremely accurate.
There are several risks of a Robot assisted surgery. There may be lots of bleeding during the surgery and infection at the site of incision. Other complications depend on the type of surgery.
The patient must not drive for at least one week after the surgery. It is essential to refrain from engaging in any sorts of strenuous physical exercise post-surgery. The patient must contact the doctor in case of infection or bleeding at the site of incision.
