Breast augmentation is a cosmetic surgery procedure which is done to increase breast size and enhance breast shape, typically through the placement of silicone or saline breast implants, and the ultimate goal of breast augmentation from a cosmetic surgeon’s viewpoint is to enhance a patient’s natural proportions and shape a more symmetrical, aesthetically pleasing breast profile.

There is no standard breast augmentation patient. Women choose to have the procedure for many different reasons, and having larger breasts is just one of them. Breast augmentation is one of the most effective methods to correct noticeable breast asymmetry. Breast implants can be useful in correcting tuberous breast deformities.

Though some can elect to stay overnight, breast augmentation is usually an outpatient procedure and the surgery lasts between one and two hours is usually done under general anesthesia.

There two types of implants used in breast augmentation surgery. They are silicone implant and a saline implant.

Fortunately, the recovery period is only about two to three days for most patients before they return to daily activities, with minimal need for pain medication.

A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is a surgical procedure performed by a plastic surgeon with an aim to change the shape of your breasts by removing the excess reshaping the breast tissue to raise the breasts. Breast augmentation and breast lift surgery are not the same things. You might choose to have augmentation if you have unsymmetric breasts or not happy with the size, but people do breasts lift surgery to have their breasts lift if they sag or their nipples point downward. However, a breast lift can be done in combination with breast augmentation surgery.

Risks of Breast Implants:

• Additional surgeries.
• Capsular contracture, a type of scar tissue that forms around the implant and squeezes it.
• Breast pain.
• Changes in nipple and breast sensation.
• Rupture with deflation of saline-filled implants.

In most countries, adult women of any age are eligible for breast augmentation. For most nations, the patient should be 22 and older to get a breast implant. Older patients should be healthy enough to withstand the surgery, including anesthesia, so there is no upper age limit for breast augmentation.

Implants cost anywhere between Rs 40,000 and Rs 50,000, and the cost of surgery ranges from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.3 lakh, depending on where it is done.
