Dr Sharmila Agarwal is one of the top Radiation Oncologists in Mumbai, India and has more than 22 years of experience in the radiotherapy management of all malignant diseases in private as well as government institutions. This includes 13 years as full time radiation oncologist at Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai, 9 years as Consultant Radiation Oncologist at Indian cancer Society’s Lady Ratan Tata Medical and Research Centre, Mumbai and 2 years as Senior Resident at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. Her specialist interest is delivering precision radiotherapy, with special interest in head and neck, breast and gynaecological malignancies. Till date she has planned and executed the treatment close to 400 cases of IMRT and IGRT mostly in Head and Neck cancers. She has served as an expert advisor and member technical committee for development of Oncology, in Cama and Albless Hospital which is a women and children speciality hospital of Government of Maharashtra, Prince Aly Khan hospital, Mumbai and Bethany Hospital, Thane. As a part of teaching programme at Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre, she has been part of dissertation work of post graduate students training in DNB Radiation Oncology. She is principal investigator of an ongoing prospective trial “prevalence of HPV infection in newly diagnosed cases of head and neck malignancies” at Prince Aly Khan Hospital, Mumbai. She has authored chapters on role of radiotherapy in cervical, breast and larynx and hypopharyngeal malignancies. She has actively participated in various capacities, in more than 200 meetings both national and international and clinical symposia. She offers a unique experience of clinical insight with thorough and up to date competencies in developing and running successful radiation oncology departments, education and research to make a difference to clinical teams and the hospital.
