Dr. Joseph Xavier has more than 21 years of experience in cardiothoracic and thoracoabdominal vascular surgery. He has performed more than 18,000 surgeries with excellent results, of which more than 10000 are heart operations on children, including new born and infants. Dr. Joseph has some ‘first operations’ in Karnataka and the south India to his credit, which includes complex heart operations performed on small children. He has vast experience in Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) technology and has to his credit the first surviving patient to be successfully placed on a left ventricular assist device in Karnataka.
